Jerrod Carmichael stopped on Saturday Night Live to host alongside musical guest Gunna in the aftermath of his new HBO program Rothaniel and Will Smith's trauma-inducing Oscars smack of Chris Rock.
Carmichael, 34, has quietly amassed a comedian's dream resume. For three seasons, Jerrod starred in the critically acclaimed The Carmichael Show, in which he accomplished what many thought was impossible: a multi-cam that was both hip and humorous. Love at the Store, 8, and the aforementioned Rothaniel, his three wonderful HBO comedy specials, employ the intimacy and classiness of a vintage jazz CD.
Give Jerrod Carmichael a Weekly Sketch Show
He was also hired by Quentin Tarantino to co-write a picture, and he recently directed and starred in On the Count of Three, which was hailed by The Guardian as "evidence that Carmichael was a director to be excited about." We're looking at a performer here, and he'd be a fantastic addition to SNL.
